Indian Trails Middle School’s Student Council

This is an organization designed for students to plan and participate in school wide activities. Most of the activities revolve around fundraising. Funds collected are then donated to different community organizations or used to purchase large items at the school for which money would not normally be allocated. Comprised of students from each of the homeroom classes, these students are nominated by their classmates to run for student council representative. Alternates from each homeroom class may also attend the student council meetings. Homeroom representatives may then run for the Executive Board, comprised of 8th graders. The Executive Board is made up of a President, Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer. Representatives may also run for the Class Senate comprised of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Each grade level elects a Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer. Students of all ability levels are encouraged to participate. Criteria for participation include maintaining a 2.0 G.P.A., outstanding or satisfactory behavior comments, and willingness to report information back to their classes from monthly meetings.
